Finding The Want

Finding The Want

Its got a name
I don't know how to pronounce
Found in a place
That’s foreign to myself
These fast moving frames
Trick our eyes into seeing
All those day light dreams
We don't remember dreaming
You've got to pull it all in
Before you can push it back out
Circling the globe to find
What we already had

Is this all there is
The everything you want
It felt like so much
Until we all had it ourselves
Wanting for need
We all just wanted
The security it brings
Until we were on our knees

Now this search
Has been rekindled
The next generation
Looking for things
We told them we found
With words without sound
So the cycle rinse repeats
Children scouring the ground
Finding ourselves lost <in the crowd>
Lessons perpetually unlearned
We can't hear it from you
While we tell everyone else

Is this all there is
The everything you want
It felt like so much
Until we all had it ourselves
Wanting for need
We all just wanted
The security it brings
Until we were on our knees

When we finally
Wake to ourselves
And can recognise
All that we had
Before we went looking
For time release answers
In a disillusioned world
Filled with the jaded
Slaves to a machine
Churning us in and
Turning us out
Without sympathy

Is this all there is
The everything you want
It felt like so much
Until we all had it ourselves
Wanting for need
We all just wanted
The security it brings
Until we were on our knees
